I am the oldest
son of a captain, a shipmaster. I was born and raised in
Klaipeda, the port city of Lithuania. I learned about the
sea not only from books or movies, but also from the songs
and stories that my grandfathers told me. My father became
frustrated when I told him that I am going to follow his
footsteps and enter the Nautical College, and thus I
happened to become a painter. However I do not condemn him
for this, moreover, I am thankful to my father.
Sea - Marine Gateways - Port - Home. And then again the
damned longing and the way back: Port - Marine Gateways -
Sea - Home. Persons dream about home when they are out in
the sea; and persons dream about the sea when they are back
home. |
